THE VALUE OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS

There is power, power wonder working power in the blood of the lamb.

There is power, power wonder working power in the precious blood of the lamb.

What is the power about in the blood of Jesus. For years people might have sing the song without knowledge of exactly what the power is about…. Most of the time people reduce the power in the blood to only healing…. So they would gather around a sick person and sing so that they can bring back the consciousness of the power of Jesus to heal….Yes, there is power to heal in the blood of Jesus,,,,,Yes there is power to give us the job. BUT IS IT ALL THAT THIS POWER IS ALL ABOUT AND HOW DO WE BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE THIS WONDER WORKING POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

I have heard pastors and people say I cover you in the blood of Jesus….So it’s like before the pastor spoke you did not have this covering, now that He has spoken it is done….you are now covered and protected….. I am not sure if it works that way.

If we know what the blood did for us and is doing for us and what it will continue to do for us…..then we will never move from this awareness….The devil takes advantage when we are unaware and when we know but we forget what the blood did for us….

I like what in the book of Acts 10: 34…. The Peter opened his mouth and said ,Of truth I perceive(katalambano) that God is no respecter of persons.

Of importance to me in that verse is the word perceive, that word in Greek is katalambano, it is to take hold of something in your mind….to allow it to change your thinking or what you knew before…So Peter was saying I thought God respected some other people and and he doesn’t actually respect others,…. I have bee taught like that since I grew up….i read books on this issue that God respects other people….u until today that I have seen gentiles receiving the precious gift of the Holy Spirit…. Now my thinking has changed….He does not respect anyone…Noone is more special in the eyes of the Lord than the other. That’s a complete turn around in the way I was thinking before. ….That is what the word does to you if you allow it…. It makes you to have a turn around in your thinking. Only if you katalambano it.. You grab it as a matter of life and death…. No do not grab mans opnion….But grab the word of God.

Today we would like to katalambano the word of God on the blood of Jesus. We want to grab it with our minds and allow it to transform our thinking,…..Our arguments… Have you ever discussed the bible with someone and he says to you, I don’t believe what you are talking about because Pastor so and so told me differently… SO you would show the brother or the sister to say but it is written in the bible that…..and there are not prepared to hear you because they katalambano what the pastor said…

THE BLOD OF JESUS HAS TWO IMPORTANT ROLES IN OUR LIVES:

I can say those are the major ones.

1)  WASHES AWAY OUR.

2) SEALS A COVENANT.

Washing away of sin

God loves man, but God hates sin. He is a just God. He must punish sin. If God does not punish sin then he is not a just God.

God and sin do not dwell together. Where there is sin God leaves. When God arrives then sin leaves. Do you know one simple exercise I you are fighting at home? Let each of you take his or he bible and prayerfully-read and then try and discuss the issue again, you might discover that you will not fight as before.  God would have abandoned us a long time ago from the time of Adam when he sinned and ran away from the face of God. But because he loved us He looked for Adam and he sought a way to resolve the crisis between Him and man. Although man had caused a crisis God looked for a solution to this problem so that a relationship can continue. God has always been looking for a way to save man and not destroy him. Although yes there are times that God destroyed man but His love has been to save man and separate man from sin. It is unfortunate that man loves sin so much.

In the garden of Eden when the man sinned an animal was slaughtered in order for God to get the hide of the animal to cloth Adam and Eve. Our eyes should not only be focused on the hide that they used to cover themselves, but we must look at the animal that lost its life as well. Because man sinned an animal died in his place.

Genesis 3: 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats and skins and clothed them.

In the book of Leviticus we see God telling the people that you must not eat meat that has blood in it because the life of the animal is in the blood.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that maketh atonement for the souls.

The blood covers that is the meaning of the word atonement. So we see in the history of the church that when a man sins he takes a lamb to the priest, the sinner lays his hand on the lamb and the priest says what he says and they slaughter the animal.

That exercise would simply mean that the sins have been transferred from man to the animal. That is why the animal had to be without defect, no limb shorter, or eye blind, but it had to be perfect….an example of purity….So that it can be established that the only reason that this lamb is dying is a sacrifice not any other reason like old age….It had to be pure for it to be able to carry the defects of the man….Otherwise if it had its own defects it will be not suitable.

Because the blood of animals is of less value to the blood of man, this did not actually remove the sins of man completely and that’s why the priest had to come year after year to sacrifice for the sins.

So blood was needed that was equal in value to the blood of man…..losing that life was equal to losing the life of a man…..That blood was supposed to be without sin in order to be able to carry the sins of man…

The equation was about to be equal…..hallelujah….Once such a sacrifice was done, they will be no need for the priest to do the same sacrifice again year after year…….Once such a person who had no sin was found and he willing gave his life in place of the whole world tit was complete.

That blood could remove completely the sin of man and leave him clean. Our sins were transferred on Him and he was punished for them by death. As He lost his life, he was paying a price good enough to set us free from the consequence of sin. When we say the blood has got power this is what we mean; the blood of animals could not deal properly with sin, because animals are of a lower life than us…. Its blood could not be used to pay for our life. It’s like trying to buy a bull using one loaf of bread. It can’t……But when Christ came as man and he did not sin, he was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. It was not a sacrifice for a year or so,,,it was an eternal sacrifice to deal with sin once and for all.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned, each of us, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

B) THE BLOOD SEALS THE COVENANT.

A covenant is an agreement between two people that represents two nations or two kingdoms…..To seal a covenant is like modern day what we would say to sign a contract…. To put your signature on the paper so that everyone who comes will be able to see that yes you know about the terms of the agree God deals with people through covenants with them….So God would tell the people I am entering into a covenant with you….This is how you behave in the covenant…. If you behave well I will protect you against your enemies, I will bless, I will give your food, I will bless you in your fields, and your animals will have pasture….Hallelujah. Only if you obey me….. To show that the people agree they would then take an animal and kill it, as they are the blood on the ground that will be the seal of the agreement between man and God….Again the animal that will be killed should be a clean animal with no defects, no one eye closed, or one limb shorter than the other but this was a signature between God and man….

The spilling of blood remains as a sign for forever that there is an agreement…Not only between the two people but even the generations to come…..So because God was changing the covenant between man and Him, blood had to be spilled and that blood was the blood of Jesus. I was a sign that God is entering into a new covenant with man…..

The main difference between the first agreement and the second agreement is that in the first agreement God would only do his part if the people have performed well……In the second covenant it was not about mans performance, but it was about faith in Jesus.

Hebrew 9: 15-18

¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.¹⁶ For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.¹⁷ For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.¹⁸ Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
